If God had a country to himself, I'm not sure he would not encourage the growth of homosexuality to the extent that it even results in a marriage. A marriage is an approval of a union between 2 people and traditionally, it refers to such a union between a man and a woman for the purpose of having children otherwise known as procreation.
One good example of God's historic disapproval of homosexuality was shown in the bible when the angels visited Lot in the city of Sodom and men of the town were blinded by them when they tried to forcibly have sex with them.
God sent his angels to save a man named Lot because he belonged to a tribe that had dedicated themselves to God even though he was living among sinful men. God went ahead to destroy the city of Sodom and saved only a few men because of their many sins which included mostly sexual sins such as homosexuality, adultery and fornication. Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed by war or famine but by fire falling from the skies and a lot of the city were damaged.
The United States of America is popularly referred to as God's own country not just by Americans but by fans worldwide and there is a reason for it. The nation was built by mostly Christians who migrated from Europe and founded the nation based on Christian principles. It was probably because of the dedication of Americans to the worship of their Christian God that made them a word power both economically and militarily. Even till the 21st Century, the United States is still considered a powerful nation but things have been gradually changing in this country that had for long been called God's own country.
In the past, things like abortion and homosexuality were frowned at by the mostly Christian society and in some cases would even be punishable by death although unlawfully. I agree, it's never a good solution to kill someone just because he/she is gay. Gay people have a right to live afterall, it's God that let them be but I think, the straight people need to protect their society and what their ideals by at least stopping the degrading of what traditional marriage ought to be through the use of public institutions that are also meant to protect them. Not everyone would want to live in a society where there is a public display of sexual affection between gay people or would want to do anything such as offering services that would support the activities of gay people. Straight people also have a right to choose who to associate with and who not to associate with without been sued to court for their choices.
Prior to the Supreme Court's ruling on gay marriage, some states in the USA disapproved of gay marriage and I think God would thank them for that because it's their Christian obligation to do so but to now try to force them to do what goes against their religious rights and beliefs through the same Supreme court that is meant to protect them is not really justified.
I'm not saying that gay people don't have a right to be gay but in a country that is called God's own country and built based on Christian principles, being gay isn't something the Supreme court should be exactly supporting since it goes against Christian principles and God's will.
The Christian God we know of doesn't approve of homosexuality or even gay marriage and for a government that has been voted in by Christians to be supporting gay marriage is to kill the Christian spirit the United States was built upon.
Is the USA still a Christian state? Has the moral fabric of America been torn apart? Are the no more Christians living in God's own country again? Why keep voting for a government that doesn't guarantee your religious liberty?
While the Supreme court ruling on gay marriage may have been a victory for gay activists in the United states, it may not bring long term peace to the nation that still has a lot of Christians who believe that it's wrong and should not be encouraged.
While I don't support the killing or elimination of gay Americans, I do support the idea that it's morally wrong and that they require some form of reform such as alcoholics and drug abuse victims do. We could create a health institution where they could go to for reform before being accepted back into the society. Another alternative may be to simply allow them live in a different region away from where straight people do so that both parties may not have to offend each other by their different lifestyles.
