Nime Jesu - Holy Communion

Jesus said, he who eats my flesh will live forever. This is a hard thing to hear or do but Christians do believe in Christ and they do it. That is what really happens at every Eucharistic feast- we eat the flesh of Jesus.

Are we cannibals then? Why should we not shiver at eating the body of a man? Well this act of eating the body of Jesus is not really in a bloody manner and it is not just the body of man but the body of God which has been converted to a sacrament such that when we eat him, our souls come alive.

What does Holy communion do for us? Of all sacraments or, nothing unites us to God so much like the Holy Eucharist. It is in Holy communion that we share the Eucharist. It is in this Communion that our weaknesses are driven away. In this communion, Christ takes control of our body and live in us.
Holy communion is the act of receiving the body of Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread and wine. It is the receiving of the Holy Eucharist just as Christ commanded at the last supper - Do this in memory of me.

The Holy communion, mostly signified by the sharing of bread an wine that is truly the Lord's flesh and blood, is where we give ourselves to Jesus and eat him as our divine food. The body needs food to survive and so does the soul. It is in Holy communion that God feeds his people and if you are not fed by God, you may suffer eternal hunger.

It is one of the oldest traditions of the church and it is impossible to see a True Church without witnessing the eating of the body of Jesus under the appearance of bread and wine.

In Holy communion, we are embedded in Jesus and he moves us. Every Christian who receives holy communion worthily immediately feels something significant after that reception. He would know that the Lord has come in his fullness.
